I've heard that HDMI will give me better pictures and sound, is this true?
HDMI is just a connection type. HDMI itself wil not improve image or sound, but is able to carry high definition pictures and audio.

Do I need HDMI version 1.3?
Only you can really answer this question. HDMI 1.3 does offer advantages over previous versions, however, to most people, these advantages will not be required or even noticed due to how you intend to use HDMI and what equipment you are using it with. There are many rumours regarding this version. We would suggest reading the link below which explains this new version.
